Nottingham Sustainable Urban Development Strategy - final call for applications

D2N2 Local Enterprise Partnership will be hosting a technical assistance workshop to support organisations looking to submit an application to support the delivery of the Nottingham City Region Sustainable Urban Development Strategy.

Projects will need to respond to the local development needs set out in the local D2N2 European Structural and Investment Funds strategy and the Nottingham City Region Sustainable Urban Development strategy.

The SUD strategy supports a range of activities to improve productivity across priority sectors and add to the development of Nottingham as a ‘smart city’. A joined up, programmatic approach to bids is welcome, including capital investment to provide space for businesses in local key sectors to start up and grow in energy efficient buildings as part of an urban network of growth and innovation hubs; and revenue funding for integrated support that provides an environment for sustainable business growth.

This final call for applications is looking to enhance access to, and use and quality of, Information and Communications Technology (ICT); enhance the competitiveness of small and medium sized enterprises; and support the shift towards a low carbon economy and more specifically:

  • Developing ICT products and services, e-commerce, and enhancing demand for ICT
  • Promoting entrepreneurship, in particular by facilitating the economic exploitation of new ideas and fostering the creation of new firms, including through business incubators
  • Supporting the creation and the extension of advanced capacities for products, services and development
  • Supporting the capacity of small and medium sized enterprises to grow in regional, national and international markets and to engage in innovation processes
  • Promoting the production and distribution of energy derived from renewable sources
  • Promoting energy efficiency and renewable energy use in enterprises
  • Supporting energy efficiency, smart energy management and renewable energy use in public infrastructure, including in public buildings, and in the housing sector
  • Promoting low-carbon strategies for all types of territories, in particular for urban areas, including the promotion of sustainable multimodal urban mobility and mitigation-relevant adaptation measures
  • Promoting research and innovation in, and adoption of, low-carbon technologies
