The European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development (EAFRD) supports rural businesses to grow and increase their competitiveness and sustainability. It aims to protect the countryside, improve the quality of life, increase diversification of the rural economy and support locally based approaches to rural development.
Applications were invited from businesses carrying out a project to create jobs or bring more money into the rural economy for the final application process which closed on 16 February 2020.
Businesses could apply for a grant relating to:
The grants are funded by the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development (EAFRD), which is part of the European Structural Investment Funds (ESIF) and more information can be found here: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/rdpe-growth-programme
The Rural Payments Agency (RPA) will assess all expressions of interest. RPA will look for projects that meet the national and local priorities for funding, and will decide which meet the criteria the best. This means grants are not awarded automatically to an applicant.
There was a 2-part application process, starting with submitting an ‘expression of interest’ to explain the business proposal and how a grant could help to achieve the project.
If RPA assesses that an expression of interest is suitable, they will invite the business to submit a full application.
This project is part-funded by the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development as part of the European Structural and Investment Funds Growth Programme 2014-2020 in England.
